The work is an interpretation of the sculpture “Kiss” (column version, 1907) by Konstantin Brancusi. I first encountered Brancusi's sculptures in St. Petersburg, where I spent my childhood. In our flat, the heating pipe for the whole house ran through a toilet, and that saved my grandmother and my mother in the bitter cold of February. I practically spent my childhood in the toilet, and it was there that I saw albums with Constantin Brancusi’s works for the first time. The sculpture has four doors because the number four has great significance in cultures (the four cardinal directions, cosmic order, etc.) and for the human psyche.
